Training

Information about online training available for all staff members on a number of topics relating to accessibility.

The Disability Information Team run online training sessions throughout the year on a number of topics, with further information about each training sessions detailed below. In order to book onto any of these training courses, you can search for ‘ISG Disability Information Team’ on Event Booker to find any of the upcoming training sessions and book onto them. Alternatively, you can email any of the Disability Information Team for further information, including any help you may need to book on to a course.

Additionally, we run both bespoke sessions and custom training on all matters related to accessibility. This can be useful should you have a number of colleagues that you would like to attend, or if the training you are looking for is not covered below. All of these training sessions take place online; we do not record these sessions, specifically to encourage participation and to allow discussion on sensitive topics / confidential content related to disability and other protected characteristics.

Creating Accessible Materials Training

Creating Accessible Materials Training involves guidance, advice, help and suggestions on how best to present content, both physical and online materials, in an accessible manner. Disability Awareness Training

Disability Awareness Training is a joint effort between the Disability and Learning Support Service and the Disability Information Team, and concentrates on disability legislation and the responsibility and impact on the University as well as the role of the Disability and Learning Support Service, general disability awareness and good practice. Equality Impact Assessment Training (EqIA)

Equality Impact Assessment Training (EqIA) covers the legislative necessity behind these documents, and how to proceed when writing about the policy, practice or procedure in question.  To book onto this training, please go to Event Booker or email any of the Disability Information Team on the contact details above.

Website and Application Accessibility Testing Training

Website and Application Accessibility Testing Training aims to act as a starting point for testing a website or application, and how this informs writing an Accessibility Statement at a later date. The training provides an overview of the process and an introduction to what is involved, before follow-up practical sessions when undertaking the practical task of testing a website or application. Accessibility Statement Writing Training

Accessibility Statement Writing Training is the follow-up course upon completion of the Website and Application Accessibility Testing. This involves learning how to collate information and complete an Accessibility Statement for the website / application that has underwent testing.
