Configure iOS (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) for secure WiFi access
The following instructions will enable you to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to eduroam, the secure WiFi network.
Configuration instructions
- Go to your 'Settings' app and select 'Wi-Fi'".
- Select "eduroam".
- Enter your username with @ed.ac.uk after it, e.g. "s10987654@ed.ac.uk".
- Enter your password.
- You will be asked to trust a certificate issued by GEANT OV RSA CA 4.
- Touch "Accept" to trust this certificate.
- You will be returned to your device's "Wi-Fi" screen.
- A tick beside "eduroam" should show that you are now connected to the secure wireless network.

Certificate trust issues
Depending on the version of your iOS device, when accepting the certificate you may be required to switch on SSL certificate trust:
- Go to Settings > General > About
- Select Certificate Trust Settings
- Under "Enable full trust for root certificates," turn on trust for the certificate.
