Known Issues & FAQs

A running list of bugs and known issues with BusinessObjects 4.3 (as of upgrade to Service Pack 3, March 2024).

If you would like help with an issue not listed here, please report it to IS.Helpline@ed.ac.uk. This list is updated as new issues emerge.

Dates in Webi reports appear in US format - MM/DD/YY.

You can fix this by taking the following steps:

  1. Log into BI Launchpad
  2. Click on the circle with your initials (top right) > Settings
  3. Under 'Account Preferences' please make sure of the following:
    1. 'Preferred viewing locale' = English (United Kingdom)
    2. 'Product locale' = Use browser locale

Known Issue - Fix Available

Affects only a small minority of users.

Data Mode - combine button missing

Open a WebI report and switch to Data Mode. In the (lower) graph pane you will see a visualisation of the data sources and cubes in your. But the combine data cubes button is missing.

Known Issue - Workaround Available

This issue will be fixed by a future Service Pack upgrade.

Users can still combine fields from different data sources using 'merge' functionality in Design Mode.

OpenDocument links to WebI reports do not work.

Right click on a report in BI Launchpad, then select 'copy document link'. Open a new browser tab and paste in link. The report should load but instead results in a timeout.

 

Known Issue - No Longer Being Investigated

This issue will be addressed in the future, when we move away from using EASE with BusinessObjects.

This is a problem with the EASE configuration rather than with Business Objects itself.

When setting up a schedule to Excel/CSV on a document in your Personal Folders, you see additional options that weren't there in the previous version:

  • Microsoft Excel - Data
  • Microsoft Excel - Reports
  • Comma Separated Value - Data
  • Comma Separated Value - Reports

We recommend alway selecting the "report" variant, as that will export only the data in your Webi report. Selecting "data" will export all the data from the underlying data cube created by the report's query, as well as the report's data. Selecting "data" may create problems if you plan to feed the exported document into Power BI.

Notes:

* Your existing schedules are unaffected by this change

** Within the Public Folders, only the "reports" variant is available when scheduling to Excel / CSV.

Known Issue - Under Investigation.

UNX universes display a mix of the following 3 errors when you attempt to build or refresh a report against them.

Known Issue - Fix Applied

By applying a fix to server configuration.

Issue might potentially reappear during periods of heavy load.

We are looking at adding more server resillience.
