This research consists of three chapters. The first chapter evaluates the future value of water in the case study of Scotland. There is also a focus on understanding the possibilities of better trading between low-value and high-value uses as well as trading in terms of quality.

The second chapter identifies the water footprint of Scotland. The findings of this research will be used for policy improvement within the Hydro Nation Agenda.

The third chapter is related to Natural Water Retention Measures Initiative, a European project on ecosystem services, of which SRUC is a Western Europe collaborator.
