Childlight Launch

A new data institute was launched at University of Edinburgh with colleagues from Moray House.

On March 15th, a new data institute was launched at The University of Edinburgh with colleagues from Moray House School of Education and Sport, Professor Debi Fry, Dr Mengyao Lu, and Pedro Jacobetty.

Childlight aims to create the first comprehensive global data repository looking at all forms of Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSEA), not only online, and show the scale and nature of this abuse. On November 20th, World Children’s Day, the team will publish their first annual dashboard and global index for CSEA.

Data is essential to establish the scale of this global health emergency, which is still unknown. Childlight has created a multidisciplinary and international group of experienced professionals from varying sectors, such as; academia, the private sector, law enforcement, and non-government organisations (NGOs). This initiative brings professionals together on a global scale, allowing researchers from across the world to collaborate and contribute to this vital data collection and analysis.
