What is Edinburgh 900?
Our city was founded in 1124 with the creation of the royal burgh of Edinburgh, the first moment in a rich history that shaped Edinburgh’s journey to becoming the modern capital it is today.
Created by the City of Edinburgh Council, the Edinburgh 900 programme brings the city’s story to life in a series of events and activities exploring its remarkable evolution over the last 900 years.
The University is joining the celebrations, with a series of Edinburgh-900 themed activities and content set to take place over the next five months.
A host of events will highlight the work of colleagues across the University by showcasing their work in a dedicated content series. This will feature stories about the University’s world-leading research, teaching, and collections, alongside our support for communities and international collaborations.
Tell us your Edinburgh stories
The Communications & Marketing team is coordinating engagement around Edinburgh 900 and are inviting colleagues to take part.
To help encourage your participation, we’ve created a bespoke Staff Toolkit which is designed to help colleagues who would like to support Edinburgh 900 and join the celebrations.
The toolkit provides guidance on how you can get involved, providing advice on how to showcase, host events and successfully use our brand alongside Edinburgh 900.
You’ll find key messages, themed copy, bespoke logos, branded materials and imagery ready to download and use, alongside advice on hosting events and how to enter them into the programme.
You can contact the Communications and Marketing team directly with ideas for stories or content that showcases the work that you do and aligns with the Edinburgh 900 themes.
