The University has published a newly updated and renamed Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy, supported by two key sets of guidelines: the Framework for Managing Health and Safety and the Framework to Support Wellbeing Activity.
Together, these documents outline how we will continue to promote a safer, healthier University. They bring together all health, safety and wellbeing responsibilities in a clear and coordinated best practice approach that supports Strategy 2030 and our legal obligations.
The policy and frameworks define the roles and responsibilities of staff at all levels, from senior leaders to students and visitors. They also provide practical arrangements for supporting mental health, preventing harm, and promoting positive wellbeing in the workplace.
Everyone has a part to play in creating a positive and proactive safety culture. We want to make sure that everyone across the University knows where to turn for support and understands their role in helping to create a safe and healthy environment. This updated policy helps us build a more joined-up and proactive culture of care, where wellbeing and safety are part of how we work every day.

Director of Health & Safety
Senior managers will be supported through these changes with new guidance and training for themselves and their teams. It’s equally important that all staff understand what the new policy means for them.
The full policy and frameworks are now available below and on the Health & Safety webpages, with further guidance and training to follow.
