Heads of business area

Heads of Colleges and Schools and managers of administrative and support services have particular responsibilities.

Heads of Colleges and Schools and managers of administrative and support services have overall responsibility for

  • ensuring compliance with the data protection legislation within their area.
  • developing and encouraging good information handling practices, within their areas of responsibility
  • managing records generated by their activities i.e. ensuring that records controlled within their area are managed in an appropriate way
  • ensuring staff within your area complete the University's mandatory data protection training

Designated roles

Each area should have a designated Data Protection Champion and Information Practitioner.  As the head of a business area you should ensure these roles are allocated to appropriate members of staff.
