HCP-Med admissions statistics

Admissions statistics for the past 3 years

Each October, at the end of the admissions cycle, we aim to publish HCP-Med admissions statistics for the previous three admissions cycles.

This includes information on applications, offers and those placed from that cycle year plus additional information on UCAT scores for HCP-Med applicants.

The first academic entry of the HCP-Med programme was in 2020.

Successful HCP-Med applicants come from a range of professions such as, but not limited to  Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Audiologists, Biomedical Scientists, Dentists, Dieticians, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, Orthoptists, Paramedics, Pharmacists, Physician Associates, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, and Radiographers.

Applications can vary both in number and quality between cycles, therefore we would caution against using these statistics as solid predictors for future applications. We review our selection process annually and how we select is subject to change. As HCP-Med is a controlled subject, the number of places we have available each year is determined by the Scottish Funding Council in liaison with NHS Scotland annually and is also subject to change.  For academic entry 2020 and 2021, the number of funded places was 25, whereas for 2022 academic entry the number of places increased to 30. For the 2023 academic entry, the number of places has increased to 35 from 30 in the previous entry.
