Borrowing books and other resources

All you need to know about borrowing from the University of Edinburgh Libraries.

Using the Library in 2021/22

In line with Scottish Government and University guidance, we are delighted to be able to welcome our students, staff and NHS users into our library buildings to study, browse and borrow books. Health and safety remains our top priority, and plans may change if guidance is updated. To keep us all safe we are still asking library users to

  • wear face coverings
  • use our hand sanitising stations
  • Use cleaning materials provided to clean desk surfaces and computer accessories

To use library study spaces, you must use the SeatEd app for NHS Test & Protect purposes.  Please refer to the key information at www.ed.ac.uk/is/study-space

We are continuing our services for library users who prefer to work remotely or are unable to come onto campus, including:

  • Digital library resources including over 2 million e-books
  • Scan & Deliver service
