University alumni should please go to the EASE-protected alumni Wi-Fi registration page to register a password for the eduroam Wi-Fi service.

The JANET Roaming Service (eduroam) enables visitors to the University of Edinburgh to gain access to the Internet using the same username and password as they use at their home institution.
Guests - not entitled to eduroam
Visit-Ed
As part of the network replacement a new visitor Wi-Fi service is being deployed called Visit-ED. The service is already available in some areas across the university and will appear in more as the Wi-Fi is replaced. Guests should be able to connect anywhere they see the Visit-Ed SSID (network) available on their mobile device. No pre-registration by staff is required, the user can simply self-register.
To access Visit-Ed:
- Look for 'Visit-Ed' under the available Wi-Fi networks on your device
- Tap Visit-Ed to connect
- Your device should launch the sign-in/registration page
- Complete the form and click Get Online
Visit-Ed provides internet access including access to any 'public' University web services such as www.ed.ac.uk, direct access to secure services is not possible with Visit-Ed.
Registration by a member of staff
Anyone who is not a University staff member or student, who is visiting the University for educational or research purposes, and who cannot use the eduroam service, may be registered to use the Wi-Fi service by a member of staff associated with their visit to the University.
Guest Wi-Fi Accounts for conferences
A UoE conference organiser may request the generation of bulk guest Wi-Fi accounts which will be supplied in a PDF file.
Please email network-support@ed.ac.uk with your University username asking for access to create in bulk.
