The University of Edinburgh Tartan Graduation Competition terms and conditions

  1. Terms and Conditions – the University of Edinburgh’s Tartan Graduation Competition. By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  2. This competition is promoted and administered by the University of Edinburgh’s Communications and Marketing department, Charles Stewart House, 9-16 Chambers St, Edinburgh EH1 1HT
  3. The competition will commence on 29 May 2025 and will run until 23:59 BST on 6 June 2025. Entries made after this time will not be counted.
  4. To participate in this competition, you must like and comment on the University’s Instagram post announcing the start of the University of Edinburgh’s Tartan Graduation Competition. Your comment must answer the question, “What will you miss most about Edinburgh after graduation?” Entries that do not include the answer to this question will not be counted. Entrants can comment multiple times, but only the first comment will be counted as an entry. Only one prize can be won per entrant.
  5. There will be one winner chosen randomly by [University of Edinburgh staff]. The winner will be chosen within [1 week] of the closure of the competition.
  6. The winner will receive their choice of:
  • One free rental of University of Edinburgh bespoke tartan pattern GNK Hire Outfits package of your choice from Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers of Edinburgh.
  • One free skirt and cape rental in the University of Edinburgh bespoke tartan pattern from Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers’ Custom Made by Loullymakes line of products.
  1. The competition is open to current students of the University of Edinburgh who are participating in the in-person 2025 Summer Graduation Ceremonies only. Entries provided by individuals who are not current students of the University of Edinburgh participating in the in-person 2025 Summer Graduation ceremonies will not be counted. The winner will be asked to provide their student number to confirm they are a University of Edinburgh student and are participating in the in-person Summer 2025 Graduation ceremonies. If the winner is unable to provide their student number or are not found to be participating in the in-person 2025 Summer Graduation Ceremonies, they will be disqualified from the competition and another winner will be drawn in accordance with clause 5.
  2. The winner will be notified by the University’s Instagram profile via private message on Instagram.
  3. When contacted via Instagram private message, the winner will be required to provide their email address and contact phone number. Further details will then be provided by the University of Edinburgh as to how to claim the prize. The winner must respond within 48 hours of being contacted. After this time the University of Edinburgh reserves the right to choose an alternate winner.
  4. No purchase is necessary to enter the competition; however, you will need an internet connection and access to Instagram. No refund may be claimed for expenses incurred in participating in this competition, including in relation to the use of the internet.
  5. We reserve the right to exclude any entries which we believe to be inappropriate, fraudulent or based on misconduct.
  6. The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for any cash alternatives.
  7. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Meta, Instagram or Facebook. You are providing your information to the University of Edinburgh and not to Meta, Instagram or Facebook. By participating in this promotion you agree to a complete release of Meta, Instagram and Facebook from any claims.
  8. Any personal data relating to participants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be used for marketing purposes without the individual's prior consent.
