Data Science

Data science is at the heart of Bayes activities and our centre hosts a number of leading data innovation organisations including The Data Lab and The Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre. Working closely with these partners enables us to combine access to infrastructure with extensive expertise across the University of Edinburgh.

Data Infrastructure

If you are looking for a place to store your data securely, the Edinburgh International Data Facility (EIDF) offers a collection of computational, data management and safe haven services. By hosting data in EIDF you will ensure security while accessing a rich set of data science and analytical tools. Safe Haven Services can also be created for organisations wishing to host and govern access to data assets in a highly secure environment.

Technical and Academic Expertise

Our data science technical teams provide services such as data integration & mining, code design and software architecture. This technical expertise is complemented by our academic capability in areas including statistical modelling, machine learning, natural language processing, cyber security and geospatial data.

Education

We provide a range of upskilling opportunities aiming to improve data comprehension, interpretation and decision-making for organisations and individuals. As well as modular programmes and short courses we offer knowledge exchange through academic/industrial placement schemes and secondments.
