COU/BUP/Titulo de Bachillerato/Graduado en Educación Secundaria

We welcome applications from students with the COU/BUP/Titulo de Bachillerato/Graduado en Educación Secundaria, depending on the degree subjects.

The information below provides a summary of the minimum entry requirements required by each of the three Colleges within the University. The final decision to offer you a place will be taken with reference to the whole UCAS application, including academic grades, personal statement and academic reference. Having the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee the offer of a place but rather ensures entry to the selection process. For some degree programmes, relevant work experience will be required.

Subject specific requirements

For many degree programmes, we will expect you to have studied specific subjects within the Curso de orientacion universitaria (COU) / Bachillerato Unificado y Polivalente (BUP) / Titulo de Bachillerato / Graduado en Educación Secundaria, depending on the degree subject. Where we ask applicants taking Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Highers for a specific subject(s) we will normally ask you for the same subject(s) in the COU / BUP / Titulo de Bachillerato / Graduado en Educación Secundaria. College of Humanities and Social Sciences

For nearly all degree programmes demand for places is much higher than places available so applicants who meet the minimum academic requirements are not guaranteed an offer of studies. The majority of offers will be made to students who achieve grades well above the minimum entry requirement.

Minimum academic requirements

Award of Titulo de Bachiller and PAU with 8 overall and 8 in at least three subjects. Please contact the Admissions Office for advice if your overall score will be out of 14.

In addition all applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English language by completing one of the qualifications accepted by the University.

College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

Medicine

Your application will be considered if you have or are predicted to pass Graduado en Educación Secundaria including good passes in Spanish, English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology; and pass at 9 or better in the Título de Bachillerato. The Natural and Health Sciences specialisation is preferred.

In addition to the minimum academic criteria, you are also required to meet non-academic entry requirements in terms of skills, experience and motivation.

You are also required to sit the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) in the summer before you submit your UCAS application. Details of the test and how your result is used in the selection process are available on the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine website.

Veterinary Medicine

Your application will be considered if you have passed or are predicted to pass Graduado en Educación Secundaria including good passes in Chemistry, Biology and Maths/Physics; and pass at 9 or better in the Título de Bachillerato. The Natural and Health Sciences specialisation is preferred.

If Physics has not been studied as part of the above qualifications, candidates must also provide evidence of a qualification at a minimum SQA Standard Grade 2 or GCSE Grade B or equivalent in this subject.

Qualifications must be gained in one sitting and at the first attempt.

If English is not your first language, you will also need to meet the University's required standard of English.

Work experience with animals is a key part of the entry requirements for Veterinary Medicine. You will be required to submit a Work Experience Summary form prior to 1st November to support your UCAS application.

College of Science & Engineering

Titulo de Bachiller and Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad (PAU) with 8.5 overall and 8.5 in required subjects. If score is out of 14, please contact Admissions Office.

In addition all applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English language by completing one of the qualifications accepted by the University.
