Course Summary
The course will cover basics of Turkish language, alphabet, vowel harmony, simple, past and future tenses. Topic-based vocabulary will be provided. Simple dialogue will be introduced.
Course Description
Turkish 1a aims to teach the structure of the Turkish language through Istanbul A1 course book. During the first semester the syllabus design will be as follows: the alphabet, vowel harmony, days of the week, plural nouns, months, seasons, numbers, colours, telling time, adjectives- comparative and superlative forms of adjectives, progressive tense, past tense, noun-case suffixes, basic vocabulary, pronouns and simple dialogue, greetings and translating from Turkish to English. Auditing/Class Only is not permitted for any languages courses.

Written Exam 70%, Coursework 10%, Practical Exam 20%
