Course Summary
This course explores key topics in literature and film and extends the knowledge of Spanish and Spanish American culture gained in Spanish 1A and 1B.
Course Description
Students will study a diverse range of literary texts and films from Spain and Spanish America. The corpus, selected to enhance students' understanding of different genres and artistic currents, addresses the important role of culture in reflecting, shaping and contesting reality from the sixteenth century to the present day. A one-hour prerecorded weekly lecture will be followed by a seminar. Seminar activities will include group discussion, debate, and close analysis. Each student will also deliver one presentation to their seminar group during the year, write a commentary and an essay, and undertake a final course commentary.

Additional Restrictions
Visiting Students MUST also take: Spanish Language 2 (ELCH08019) . This is a Full Year course so Visiting Students must be in Edinburgh for the full year to take this course.
