The teaching programme consists of two complementary strands, introducing students to the pronunciation, grammar and syntax of Early Irish, and training them to read edited Early Irish texts. It provides students with an introduction to the palaeographic, orthographic and textual background of the texts studied. The course starts by introducing students to the pronunciation of Early Irish and developing reading skills in Early Irish, and proceeds to study Early Irish texts with a greater emphasis on content and context.
