You will only be able to apply for University accommodation once you have accepted an offer (unconditional, conditional, or insurance) to study at the University of Edinburgh.
'University accommodation' refers to any accommodation contracted under the University of Edinburgh Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE). It does not refer to other private University accommodation providers.
Every student living outside the City of Edinburgh is guaranteed a place to live in University-managed accommodation as long as you apply by the Accommodation Guarantee deadline. As soon as you have accepted an offer to study, you should apply for accommodation; this is regardless of whether your offer is unconditional or conditional.

Applying for University accommodation
If you are not covered by an Accommodation Guarantee, you can still make an application for University accommodation and you will be placed on a waiting list. Places are limited but we successfully manage to offer accommodation to a number of students on the waiting list each year.
You must complete your induction before you arrive at your accommodation. Check the accommodation website regularly for any updates and information about this.
You will be able to find full details about 'checking in' (date and time allocation) and key collection on the accommodation channel in your MyEd account from August.
If you have not been successful in your accommodation application, you can contact the University Housing Team to ask about any last-minute changes in availability.
If you have already received an offer of accommodation and did not accept it, it is unlikely that you will be issued with a new offer.
University accommodation is managed separately to the University.
