Short courses for the Church Community

As part of the work of New College to resource the Church of Scotland and beyond, the School of Divinity offers a range of short courses for lay and ordained people. While the courses are open to everyone, they are particularly aimed at those in churches who seek to develop their understanding of Christian theology, worship and mission.

Understanding Buddhism – Short Course

School seminars
Regular seminars are held in each research area, throughout the two academic semesters. Visitors are warmly invited to attend. All seminars are held in New College.

New College Cafe

New College Cafe, Run by the Grassmarket Community Project
The New College Cafe at the School of Divinity runs throughout the semester offering our community hot and cold food and drinks. The kitchen is ran by the Grassmarket Community Project.

New College 175th Anniversary

In 2021, the School celebrated the 175th anniversary of the day when Dr Thomas Chalmers laid the foundation stone of New College on the Mound: 3 June 1846.
