Student designed Path wins Award for Excellence

The online course selection tool, Path has been awarded the UCISA (Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association) Award for Excellence.

Path was created by undergraduate students Paul Horrocks and Greg Tyler in 2012. They originally designed the user-friendly and personalised system to help their course mates in Mathematics choose their degree courses. It has since been successfully rolled out across the University.

Path is a student-led initiative which has grown to have a positive impact across our student community... We are delighted that the Path system has been recognised by UCISA through this award for excellence, and we are extremely proud of the work Paul and Greg started as students and have continued as colleagues.

The judging panel commended the team for developing features such as the facility to use student feedback to help inform the selection of courses.

I think it's fantastic that the University was able to give us the creative freedom to continue building upon the ideas we originally had as students and improve Path, but at the same time help transition the service from our little experimental pilot to the robust system that thousands of students rely upon today!
