Organised by WWF, Earth Hour is a global movement that encourages people and organisations to switch off their lights for one hour to show they care abut the planet.

Edinburgh is one of over 7000 cities taking part, with major landmarks such as Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament and the City Chambers switching off their lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday 28th March 2015.

As in previous years, 2015 will see The University of Edinburgh switch off the external floodlights at Teviot Row House, which for the first time will be joined by lights off at Old College, the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation and the School of GeoSciences.

Event Details

To mark the occasion, a special candlelit event will take place in Teviot Debating Hall from 8pm on Saturday 28th March featuring performances of spoken word poetry, music and dance. The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend (no booking required).
