Discretionary Fund available to UK students

Additional financial help is available for UK students experiencing financial difficulties from the Discretionary Fund, which is provided by the Scottish Government.

We know that it can be hard to cope financially during your time at university. This fund is here to help UK students who are currently in financial hardship.

Eligibility

You must be from Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland to apply. If you have previously been awarded Discretionary Funds by the University, you are still eligible to apply again.

To qualify, you must be able to demonstrate all of the following:

  • You have applied for your full income-assessed student loan entitlement and received your first instalment (this only applies to undergraduates)
  • You have already exhausted all other possible sources of funding
  • You are currently experiencing financial hardship

International and EU students are not eligible to apply for these funds.
