Painting auctioned for bursaries

A painting of Edinburgh is to be auctioned on eBay from 8 October, with the money raised going to fund access bursaries at the University.

This is the first time a charity internet auction has been used to raise funds for the University.

The painting, of Edinburgh from Blackford Hill, is by watercolourist Gordon McDowall.

It is expected to reach £5,000. Limited-edition prints are also available to purchase for £120.

Each year the University awards more than 700 access bursaries - each worth up to £2,500 - to help students meet living costs whilst studying.

The painting is available for viewing at the Old College reception and will go on sale on eBay on 8 October. The online auction ends on 18 October.
