Marcelo Cintra has been made Personal Chair in Parallel Computer Architecture.

Professor Cintra has a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA).
After graduating he joined the academic staff of the School of Informatics as a Lecturer. He became a Reader in 2009.
He was on an extended sabbatical leave at Intel’s Microprocessor and Programming Lab from 2011 to 2013.
His research interests include computer architecture, high-performance computing, optimising compilers, and fault-tolerant architectures.
His research work is recognised with four HiPEAC Paper awards as well as a Best Paper award nomination in PACT 2011.
He is currently Associate Editor of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing.
Professor Cintra has served in numerous programme committees.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' Technical Committee on Computer Architecture.
He has Senior Membership status of both the IEEE and the Association for Computing Machinery.
