
Elisabeth A Innes has been made an Honorary Professor in the College of Science & Engineering.
She has conducted research in the area of infectious diseases of livestock at several different research institutes in the UK and Africa.
Professor Innes currently leads a group at Moredun Research Institute in Edinburgh, looking at developing solutions to control diseases caused by protozoan parasites.
She has published numerous scientific articles and delivered several successful externally funded national and international research programmes.
She coordinates and teaches a course on Parasites of Public Health Importance, within the College of Science and Engineering. She also teaches within the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.
Following a sabbatical year spent in Hong Kong in 2002-03 where she studied journalism and photography she became more interested in science communication, knowledge exchange and education.
Professor Innes took up a new position as Director of Communications at Moredun in 2008, while retaining her research interests.
She is founder and CEO of the Creative Science Company, a spin-out from Moredun established in 2008.
