Visiting Professor: Bo Anders Vahlquist

Bo Anders Vahlquist has been appointed Visiting Professor with the College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine.

Professor Vahlquist is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Akademiska Hospital, Sweden.

He completed his PhD and MD at Uppsala University, Sweden.

Professor Vahlquist taught medical students for 25 years, starting as a teaching assistant in Medical Chemistry in 1970 at the University of Uppsala.

The dermatologist has since held a variety of academic posts at universities including Linköping University, Sweden and Newcastle University, UK.

He has won a number of awards for his research including the Marchionini Gold Medal, the most prestigious prize in dermatology for scientific achievement and humanitarian activities.

He is the member of multiple societies internationally and sits on a range of boards.

His published works include about 130 original papers and 40 review articles or chapters.

He is the co-editor of a Swedish textbook on problem-based learning in dermatology.

He is Editor-in-Chief of ‘Acta Dermato-venereologica’. Professor Vahlquist was born in Solna, Sweden.
