Honorary Professor: Clifford Leen

Clifford Leen has been made an Honorary Professor.

Clifford Leen

Dr Leen is a consultant physician in Infectious Diseases at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.

He leads a research unit involved in international and national studies on the treatment of HIV and hepatitis C.

Dr Leen is also an investigator with the EuroSIDA Study Group. He studies demographic, clinical, therapeutic, virological and laboratory data from persons infected with HIV across Europe.

After growing up in Mauritius, he moved to Edinburgh to do his undergraduate medical studies.

He took up postgraduate training in Edinburgh, Manchester and London.

Dr Leen sits on a range of committees, boards and groups including the:

  • Scientific Steering Committee of MRC
  • British HIV Association (BHIVA) Education and Scientific Subcommittee
  • BHIVA Hepatitis Working Group Executive Panel
  • UK MRC College of Experts (Infection and Immunity Board)
  • Expert Advisory Group on AIDS
  • management board of the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Infectious Diseases.

Dr Leen is married to a paediatrician and they have two children.
