The University of Edinburgh's Summer 2026 Graduations Competition terms and conditions

  1. Terms and Conditions – the University of Edinburgh’s Summer 2026 Graduations Competition. By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  2. This competition is promoted and administered by the University of Edinburgh’s Communications and Marketing department, Charles Stewart House, 9-16 Chambers St, Edinburgh EH1 1HT.
  3. The competition will commence on Monday 15 June 2026 and will run until 11:59pm on Friday 19 June 2026. Entries made after this time will not be counted.
  4. To participate in this competition, you must comment on the University’s Instagram post announcing the start of the University of Edinburgh’s Summer 2026 Graduations Competition. Your comment must answer the question, "What is your favourite memory of studying at the University of Edinburgh?" Entries that do not include an answer to this question will not be counted. Entrants can comment multiple times, but only the first comment will be counted as an entry. Only one prize can be won per entrant.
  5. There will be one winner chosen randomly by University of Edinburgh staff. The winner will be chosen within one week of the closure of the competition.
  6. The winner will receive their choice of one (1) University of Edinburgh-branded watch from MacKinnon Watches. 
  7. NOTE: the competition is open to current students of the University of Edinburgh who are graduating in the in-person 2026 Summer Graduation ceremonies only. Entries provided by individuals who are not current students of the University of Edinburgh graduating in the in-person 2026 Summer Graduation ceremonies will not be counted. The winner will be asked to provide their student number to confirm they are a University of Edinburgh student and are graduating in the in-person Summer 2026 Graduation ceremonies. If the winner is unable to provide their student number or is not found to be graduating in the in-person 2026 Summer Graduation Ceremonies, they will be disqualified from the competition and another winner will be drawn in accordance with clause 5.    
  8. The winner will be contacted via Instagram Direct Message by the University of Edinburgh’s Instagram page.
  9. The winner will be required to provide their student email address and contact phone number as instructed at the time of being announced as a winner. Further details will then be provided by the University of Edinburgh as to how to claim the prize. The winner must respond within 48 hours of being announced as the winner. After this time the University of Edinburgh reserves the right to choose an alternate winner.
  10. No purchase is necessary to enter the competition; however, you will need an internet connection and access to Instagram. No refund may be claimed for expenses incurred in participating in this competition, including in relation to the use of the internet.
  11. We reserve the right to exclude any entries which we believe to be inappropriate, fraudulent or based on misconduct.
  12. The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for any cash alternatives.
  13. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Meta, Instagram or Facebook. You are providing your information to the University of Edinburgh and not to Meta, Instagram or Facebook. By participating in this promotion you agree to a complete release of Meta, Instagram and Facebook from any claims.
  14. Any personal data relating to participants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be used for marketing purposes without the individual's prior consent.
