Course Summary
The course consists of an extended research project in an area of contemporary chemical physics research. The aim is to acquire the necessary skills to perform chemical or physical research in a professional academic research environment. The research project forms part of the Honours curriculum for students on the BSc degree programme in Chemical Physics.
Course Description
The project is carried out in the research group of a member of the academic staff.The student is required to review the background of the research area assigned, write an introduction/aims of the project and given an oral presentation on this as a formative exercise. To carry out appropriate theoretical, analytical or experimental work before subsequently writing a report and making an oral presentation of the research before a small audience. The aim is to acquire the necessary skills to perform research in a professional environment. The research project forms part of the final year Honours curriculum for students on any of the BSc degree programmes in chemistry. Chemical Physics students may choose to carry out their project within the School of Physics with the prior agreement of the Course Organiser.
