Pre-requisites
This course is for post-beginners with some knowledge of Japanese language or students who successfully completed Foundation Japanese Language 1 (or equivalent). **Please see Additional Restrictions below**
Course Summary
It is not suitable for absolute beginners or students with knowledge of Japanese at Higher/GCSE or above. All students take all elements of assessment including the examination. This course runs in semester 2.
Course Description
The following list is a description of the contents of the course. Along with each topic and function, relevant vocabulary, grammatical and textual structures, and culture notes will be introduced. -How to read and type Japanese scripts: hiragana, katakana and kanji (up to 20 characters) -Everyday activities -Stating how frequently you do something and give a brief reason for why you do it -Ordering at a restaurant -Characteristics of things and people -Basic greetings when visiting people and receiving guests -Giving and receiving gifts and expressing gratitude -Expressing your thoughts on things, about experiences -Making/answering a telephone call -Inviting someone, accepting or rejecting someone's offer -Giving a reason for offering someone something -Schedules in detail such as weekend plans and travel plans -Asking someone to do something for you -Giving directions

Additional Restrictions
Auditing (Class Only) is not allowed. Students MUST NOT also be taking (Foundation Japanese Language 1 (ASST07008), Japanese Language Beginner (ASST08059), Japanese Language Post Beginner (ASST08058), Japanese Language Pre-Intermediate (ASST08057), Japanese Language Lower Intermediate (ASST08060), Japanese Language Mid-Intermediate (ASST08069), Japanese Language Upper Intermediate (ASST08068)) or Foundation Japanese Language 2 (ASST07016).
