Clean Water & Sanitation includes current and future projects into novel and practical ways to treat water contaminated with pathogens, organic, and inorganic pollutants. A further critical area for ensuring clean water is the development of low-cost methods for detecting water contamination. Methods being developed within this theme focus particularly on the needs of local communities: low price, easy maintenance, and acceptance/ownership by the community.
