Peer observation of teaching 2022

The R(D)SVS Senior Management Group has approved new school-wide initiatives to further enhance our commitment to teaching excellence and enhancing the student experience (effective Jan 2016).

'Peer Observation of Teaching' is now a mandatory exercise for all colleagues involved in teaching BVM&S undergraduate or postgraduate students, on a two yearly cycle (including colleagues who teach on clinics).

Colleagues are asked to 'pair up' with another colleague of their choice in order to observe and provide feedback on one aspect of their teaching (e.g. a lecture, tutorial, practical session, teaching on clinics).

Proformas are provided to assist with completing the exercise, and these, plus further information can be found on Learn: 'Vet School Staff Development' course, 'Peer Observation of Teaching' folder.

The current deadline for completion of the exercise is Aug 2024.

Please note that this process is for staff development purposes only and does not feed into any review or assessment processes.

Briefings

Briefings for colleagues to provide further information about the Peer Observation of Teaching exercise will be held at regular intervals. Details of sessions are advertised via email or will appear in People & Money.
