Support for Teaching programme

This programme has been developed by the Veterinary Medical Education Division (VMED) to support any colleague involved in teaching, learning and assessment at the R(D)SVS or Roslin Institute.

We offer range of different activities including workshops, journal clubs, talks, and educational fora, as well as a longitudinal programme (the Edinburgh Teaching Award) that leads to accredited fellowship of the Higher Education Academy at four possible levels (AFHEA, FHEA, SFHEA, PFHEA).

Activities and events

The VMED team run a number of talks and workshops throughout the year, as well as a journal club and wellbeing events.

Edinburgh Teaching Award (EdTA)

The Edinburgh Teaching Award (EdTA) is a longitudinal programme for teaching enhancement that, upon successful completion, leads to nationally accredited fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Mandatory events for new staff

VMED puts on a series of mandatory induction events for new teaching staff.

Peer observation of teaching

Peer observation is a mandatory activity for all staff involved in undergraduate BVM&S teaching
