University of Alberta Partnership

A partnership between University of Alberta and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.

In partnership with the University of Alberta, the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies offers students who have successfully completed three years of study on the UoA BSc in Agriculture (Animal Science major) or BSc in Animal Health the opportunity to enter onto the accelerated 4 year BVM&S Programme. This agreement allows students to graduate with an internationally accredited degree in a combined total of 7 years and receive a qualification from both UoA (BSc) and the University of Edinburgh (BVM&S).

Eligibility and Admissions

To apply, students must be at least in their second year of study at UoA, achieving good grades in all Major Courses* and be on track to obtain an overall GPA of 3.4 or above (on a 4 point scale) by the end of the third year of one of the following programmes: 

  • BSc in Animal Health, Companion and Performance Animals Major
  • BSc in Animal Health, Food Animal Major
  • BSc in Agriculture, Animal Science Major

Selected applicants will be invited to attend an interview in San Francisco in early February and will be informed about the outcome of their application in early March of the planned year of entry. 

Students successfully completing the BVM&S are eligible to transfer up to 30 credits towards the programmes outlined above, thus allowing them to graduate from their BSc
