Open Days

Welcome to our Open Day at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh – we are looking forward to meeting you!

Veterinary Medicine at Easter Bush – 5 October 2019

The Easter Bush campus will be hosting all Veterinary Medicine related activity and providing transport to and from the Central area, so that visitors can explore all of the extended facilities that the University has to offer.

Please note that attendance at Open Day requires booking in advance.  Booking will open at least six weeks in advance of each Open Day.

We recommend that you do not book travel until booking opens and your place has been confirmed. To be notified of when registration is open, you can sign up to be kept up to date.

Please note that due to popular demand and space constraints of our clinical areas, places on CAMPUS TOURS will be limited to prospective students ONLY. This is to allow us to prioritise access for applicants.  Should an applicant be selected for interview, a full campus tour with two guest spaces is included on the day.

ONE GUEST per prospective student will be able to attend the SUBJECT TALK. Should an applicant wish to attend Open Day with TWO guests, BOTH will be able to attend the STUDENT EXPERIENCE TALK while prospective students are touring the campus.

We are unable to guarantee that both guests will be able to attend the Subject Talk due to capacity but we will make every effort to accommodate for this if possible.

Should this not be possible, Admissions staff will be on hand to speak to in an informal setting. Please see below for what will be covered in each talk.

Subject Talk from Director of Admission and Senior Lecturer Dr. Sally Argyle MVB, Cert SAC, PhD, MRCVS.  Dr. Argyle will cover all aspects of the course, entry requirements and application process to the BVM&S programme.

Campus Tours will be led by current students and faculty staff.  They offer a unique opportunity to see the veterinary teaching facilities as well as our hospitals and vets at work.  Your tour guide will be able to offer first-hand experiences of studying and working at the vet school, so feel free to ask as many questions as you have!

Student Experience Talk will include presentations on academic and pastoral support, recent graduate experience and subsequent career, and Vet School Student Union support for students.

Admissions Team members will be on hand to offer advice and support across all areas of applying to and studying on the BVM&S programme.

Student Ambassadors will be representing the University as a whole and can offer advice on wider support enquiries relating to the University as a whole.  Our own Vet School Ambassadors will be leading the tours and offering first hand insight on life as a student at R(D)SVS.

The programme of the day allows plenty of room for access to our staff as well as allowing you to attend other University talks in the Central sites.

There is a café on site serving hot and cold refreshments all day.

Pre-booked coaches will depart promptly, so please allow plenty of time to meet the allocated departure times.

If you are making your own way to the Vet School, please make sure you have booked a place in advance via the online booking system and arrive no less than 15 minutes before you first activity. Parking at the Vet School if free of charge. As the weekend bus service is currently suspended, there is no public transport to Easter Bush Campus.
