Fees and Funding

Details on tuition fees for all BVM&S students can be found on the Scholarships and Student Funding Services website.

Tuition Fees

Please note that all candidates applying for either the 4-year or 5-year BVM&S programme as a second degree (including graduates from the UK, EU, EEA) are considered at the International Fees rate.

Tuition fees for EU undergraduates starting in 2017

We currently expect that tuition fees for EU students entering in 2017 will continue to be set at the amount fixed by the Scottish Government for students from Scotland and the EU. Under the current rules, those fee levels will apply to students for the duration of their studies.

If you are thinking of applying for 2017 entry, we encourage you to do so in the usual way. In the meantime we will keep you up to date about any changes in policy that may affect you.

Scholarships

We offer a wide range of scholarships to our undergraduates, including both home/EU and international students. The University is committed to supporting students and rewarding academic excellence.

Student financial support

Access Bursaries help new UK students experiencing financial difficulties to take up their place of admission at the University of Edinburgh. The Bursary scheme is only available to new undergraduate students who are UK nationals and commencing their first undergraduate degree.

Additional Costs

In addition to any tuition fees charged, additional costs include equipment and protective clothing: Specialised equipment and lab coats (estimated at £150). Extramural study (externships) of 38 weeks will also incur additional accommodation and travel costs. Limited grant funding may be available from the University, but it unlikely to cover the full costs of extramural study.

Transport to and from the campus

Using public transport to and from the campus will cost around £525 per year, which the School will subsidise proportionally in line with your year of study. Further information on how to travel to and from the campus is available here

Remember to factor in additional costs for living and special equipment when budgeting for your studies.
