Hospital for Small Animals

Orthopaedic Surgery

Led by Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and EBVS® European Specialists in Small Animal Surgery, Dr Dylan Clements and Dr John Ryan, the Orthopaedic Surgery Service delivers world leading care and transformative clinical research.

With over 30 years’ combined experience in specialist surgery, we pride ourselves on providing outstanding patient care and cut-edge treatments for joint diseases, fractures and lameness investigations.

We have state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities - including computed tomography, MRI, intra-operative fluoroscopy, and arthroscopy. We have the expertise to perform orthopaedic surgeries ranging from patellar luxation correction, tibial plateau levelling osteotomies, to complex spinal fracture stabilisations, total hip replacement and angular limb deformity corrections.

We work closely with the REPAIR Centre to optimise our assessments and postoperative rehabilitation, and with internationally renowned colleagues in Anaesthesia, Neurology and Diagnostic Imaging to provide the very highest standards of care.

Unlike our direct competitors, we are a not-for-profit organisation, and all of our staff are involved in researching the conditions and treatments we see today, so that we can improve the outcomes and prevent diseases in our pets tomorrow. Furthermore, our undergraduate veterinary students, who will become tomorrow’s vets, can benefit immensely from the cases we see today. The surgery service provides care for pets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every week of the year.

We are always happy to speak to discuss cases with our veterinary colleagues, who can contact us via:
