Novel teaching animations enhance student understanding

Clinicians at the Dick Vet have recently collaborated with a professional 3D animator to develop a range of animations which aimed to improve undergraduate and client understanding of cruciate ligament disease in dogs.

The animations show the impact of cruciate ligament rupture and how various surgical treatments can be employed to stabilise the stifle joint. The effects of the animations on undergraduate understanding have been evaluated and the results have been published in the Journal of Veterinary Medical Education. The animations are freely available on the small animal medicine website.
