Clinical Research Assessment and Guidance panel

Dr Richard Mellanby, Head of Small Animal Medicine, is part of a new initiative aimed at supportive clinical research in veterinary practice.

Dr Mellanby, along with Professor. Nick Jeffery, the Editor of the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP) and Professor. Lauren Trepanier of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a member of the Clinical Research Assessment and Guidance (CRAG) initiative which has been recently developed by JSAP.

The goal of the CRAG panel is to provide assistance in designing, running and analysing clinical research projects. The hope is that this will ease the path to publication for practicing veterinarians who wish to undertake high quality small animal clinical research. The concept is that an individual or group can come up with the idea for a clinical study and then work with the CRAG panel to refine the methodology so that the project will be feasible and likely to come up with reliable answers.
