Dick Vet awarded Athena SWAN bronze status

The Dick Vet was delighted to learn in April 2013 that it had been awarded Athena SWAN Bronze status, making us the first veterinary school to be recognised in this way.

The Athena SWAN Awards recognise success in developing employment practices to further and support the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) departments in higher education.

We are extremely pleased and very proud to be the first Vet School in the UK to have received this recognition. Achieving the Athena SWAN Bronze award underlines our commitment to promoting gender equality in higher education. As important as this is, we will continue to develop and promote equality in the coming years with a view to achieving further recognition in future.

Special thanks goes to our academic lead Anna Meredith and to Cat Eastwood and all the staff who have worked hard to gain us this recognition.
