Research Snapshots 2022

We are inviting submissions for Research Snapshots on the two themes of the UNCOVER Conference 2022 - Infectious Diseases & Pandemic Preparedness, or Climate Change and Health.

Your Research Snapshot will be a recorded "lightning talk" presenting your work, related to an aspect of one of the main UNCOVER Conference 2022 themes - Infectious Diseases & Pandemic Preparedness or Climate Change & Health

This is an opportunity to share your work with an audience of engaged and like-minded researchers and decision-makers. Shortlisted snapshots will be played during the conference, and will be available on the conference website beyond the end of the conference.

Submission Deadlines

Our call for submissions is now open, and will remain open until Monday 31 October 2022 (DEADLINE EXTENDED). Follow the link below to submit your snapshot.

Format

Your snapshot can be a static poster with audio narration (created and recorded in PowerPoint or Canva, for example) or a short video presenting your work. In either case, your snapshot should not exceed 3 minutes in length.

Landscape format is preferred for posters and videos. You should submit your poster or video online via the link at the bottom of this page – if you have any difficulties doing so, please contact the team on usher.uncover@ed.ac.uk.

What we accept

You are welcome to present your own individual research, including extended projects or dissertations completed as part of an undergraduate or Masters degree. You are also welcome to present a group project that you have been involved with, but should make sure that you have the agreement of all other group members to do so.

We welcome posters and videos on primary studies; on rapid, systematic and other reviews; on policy evaluations; and on any other type of well-conducted research relevant to one or both conference themes.

Posters and videos with multiple co-authors are welcome – please make sure that all contributions are appropriately credited.

Shortlisting and Commendations

Research snapshots will be shortlisted for inclusion in the conference programme and on the website, by the UNCOVER Conference committee. Commendations will be awarded for:

  • Best student presentation
  • Best overall presentation
  • Most engaging and accessible presentation

You should expect to hear from us by the beginning of November if your research snapshot has been shortlisted. Commendations will be awarded at the UNCOVER Conference.

For any further questions about submissions, please contact the UNCOVER admin team on usher.uncover@ed.ac.uk.
