Professor Nick Mills elected to Academy of Medical Sciences

Professor Nick Mills recognised for contributions to medical research, benefiting patients and wider society.

Professor Nick Mills

Congratulations to Professor Nicholas Mills, Personal Chair of Cardiology, Butler BHF Senior Clinical Research Fellow, and Consultant Cardiologist, who has been elected as a 2021 Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

The Academy fellowships recognise exceptional individuals for their innovative contributions to medical research, as well as the translating benefits they bring to patients and wider society. Professor Mills is among 50 other talented scientists being honoured with a 2021 Fellowship.

Professor Mills works to improve care and outcomes for those with heart disease.

I am honoured to be elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. The Academy has played a key role in promoting academic training and in the translation of research into clinical practice. These are my priorities also. I was reminiscing  this week about my first opportunity in research as an undergraduate student in clinical pharmacology, which does not seem so long ago! I have benefited from fantastic mentoring from colleagues across the Centre since and would encourage other trainees and fellows to join the Academy’s mentoring programme.
