Wellcome Trust Reader delivers Paul Bach-Y-Rita Memorial Lecture
Dr Martyn Pickersgill - 'Neuroscience and the Governance of Family Life'
In this Paul Bach-Y-Rita Memorial Lecture Martyn Pickersgill discussed a collaborative sociological research project using both documentary analysis and interviews with individuals developing - and targeted by - policy and services in this area. He showed how neuroscientific notions are regarded as simultaneously novel and significant, and mundane and unsurprising.
The lecture drew on various studies conducted by Pickersgill at the Usher Institute as part of fellowships and projects sponsored by the AHRC, ESRC, Leverhulme Trust and Wellcome Trust.
