Speaker: Dr Nikki Rousseau, Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, University of Leeds

Biography: Nikki Rousseau is a University Academic Fellow in Healthcare Technology Evaluation at University of Leeds, UK where her focus is on the use of qualitative and mixed methods in healthcare technology development and evaluation. She is based in the Surgery, Diagnostics and Devices Division at Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research and is also a member of LUCID – Leeds Unit for Complex Intervention Development. Nikki currently leads qualitative process evaluations in several UK NIHR HTA funded trials and has considerable experience and expertise in the use of qualitative and mixed methods research to understand patient and clinician experiences of health care and of new health care technologies.

In this session, Nikki will discuss different approaches to the conduct and analysis of mixed methods research, with examples from her own research. Nikki will also touch on the advantages of a mixed methods approach and the challenges one might encounter.
