Earlier this year, we said a not quite farewell to Professor Aileen Keel as she stepped down as IHDP’s Director. Aileen will continue to be involved as Senior Advisor to the programme and help steer us in the right direction as we transition to work more closely with Public Health Scotland (PHS).

In support of IHDP’s alignment with PHS, Scott Heald, Director of Data & Digital Innovation at PHS, will also be taking on the role of IHDP Director. One of Scott’s first duties was to channel TV show host Eamonn Andrews and honour Aileen with a This Is Your IHDP Life presentation. Many colleagues gathered to celebrate with Aileen, with a few choosing to share fond memories of working with her.

The event celebrated Aileen’s achievements in establishing IHDP and leading on transformation of the cancer data landscape. Under Aileen’s leadership, the team collaborated on local and national projects, spanned boundaries and worked across networks, linking the local with the national in order to improve cancer data and intelligence, improve data flow, and explore technologies.

We thank Aileen for her dedication and commitment and are excited to welcome Scott and to see what the horizon holds for IHDP as we forge closer links with PHS to improve health and wellbeing across Scotland through better use of healthcare data.
