Edinburgh Clinical Trials

Practical methods for meta-analysis of continuous outcomes in stroke rehabilitation trials.

Our research will investigate:  (1) ways of recovering the necessary statistical information (mean and/or standard deviation) when it is missing from clinical trial reports, thus enabling a standard meta-analysis to be performed;  (2) ways of analysing “skewed” outcomes when standard methods of meta-analysis are inappropriate.  These approaches will allow us to summarise the evidence from clinical trials more precisely and with less risk of bias.
