Research from the EAVE II connected project, COPS (Covid-19 in Pregnancy in Scotland), showed that women unvaccinated against COVID-19 and their babies are much more likely to become very unwell with COVID-19 during pregnancy. It also confirmed that in Scotland COVID-19 vaccine uptake was much lower in pregnant women compared to the general population. It found no evidence for an increased risk of stillbirth or new-born death following vaccination, compared to women who have never had COVID-19.

In December 2021, EAVE II's preliminary findings helped the UK to avoid a second winter lockdown, by informing policy makers that the then-new Omicron variant caused milder disease than the previously dominant Delta variant. However, the omicron variant was also more likely to overcome the protection given by the available COVID-19 vaccines.

In November 2021, EAVE II's research showed that children aged 5-17 are at 3 to 6 times higher risk of being admitted to hospital with COVID-19 if their asthma is not controlled, compared to those with no asthma. Based on their findings, the team estimated that there were just under 110,000 children across the whole of the UK with uncontrolled asthma who should be prioritised to receive COVID-19 vaccines.
