Biography

Catherine Montgomery is a Chancellor's Fellow in the Sociology of Biomedicine at CBSS. Her research focuses on the juncture between scientific knowledge production and clinical care. She has explored this in various clinical settings, often through ethnographies of clinical trials.
Much of Catherine's work to date has focused on the ways in which the design and implementation of clinical research produces particular configurations of knowledge, sociality and change. Bringing together interests in data practices and material and discursive transformations in healthcare, her current work explores learning health systems and the mutual re-configuration of knowledge and care in data-driven healthcare.
