Who's Who

Our Patient and Public Involvement team

Our Patient and Public Involvement team is led by Tracy Jackson and Anna De Simoni. We also have four volunteer PPI patient leads who contribute to the strategic direction of the Centre and take part in various initiatives, including speaking at public events, advising on our research, and leading the PPI platform.

Leo Campbell

Leo Campbell

Leo is a volunteer PPI patient lead and a member of the Centre Management Committee. Leo’s particular interest in the Centre is its focus on applied outcomes and he has helped drive a focus on the social risk factors around asthma, his insight coming from the experience of his daughter’s death. Leo has businesses in healthy food and digital marketing.

Bill Day

Bill is a volunteer PPI patient lead and member of the Centre Management Committee. He feels passionately that all people with asthma should have the same access to specialist treatment in order to improve their health before they become chronically ill. Bill is on the committee of the ‘CHILL’ study into the effects of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone and has contributed feedback to several other studies since joining the PPI group.

Amanda Keighley

Amanda is a volunteer PPI patient lead and member of the Centre Management Committee. Her particular interest is the self-management of asthma including the impact of the home and environment for adults and children with asthma. Amanda is a member of the stakeholder group for the Strategic Priorities Fund - UK Clean Air Consortia West London Healthy Home and Environment Study. She has also contributed feedback to a number of studies as a member of the PPI group.

Tracy Jackson 

Tracy Jackson is a Co-Lead for Patient and Public Involvement. She advises researchers on how to meaningfully involve patient and public members in their research.  She works with volunteers to create research based on their ideas.  She is always happy to hear from new volunteers!

Tracy also sits on the Centre Management Committee.

Anna De Simoni

Anna De Simoni is Co-Lead for Patient and Public Involvement. She is a Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care, based at QMUL, and a GP.

Anna also sits on the Centre Management Committee.

Emma Kinley 

Emma Kinley is the Research Fellow for Patient and Public Involvement, and has completed her PhD with the Centre. Emma has a background in Health Psychology and is also currently completing her Qualification in Health Psychology (Stage 2). She advises and works with researchers in the Centre to meaningfully involve patient and public members in their research.

Ann McMurray

Ann McMurray is an Asthma Nurse Specialist at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. She facilitates our SPEAK Asthma group for young people with asthma and is a grantholder for our Centre. 

Ann completed a PhD through the Centre exploring patient and parent perspectives of fatal and near fatal asthma in young people.

Laura Gonzalez Rienda

Laura is the PPI Platform Research and Operations Assistant. She is a qualified secondary school teacher who supports the Patient and Public Involvement team and the volunteers with all areas of PPI. A very sociable person, she would love to hear from you.
