A warm welcome to Bill Day, who joins the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research as Volunteer Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Patient Lead.

Bill is on the committee of the CHILL study into the effects of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone and has contributed feedback to several other studies since joining the PPI group.

“Patient involvement is important to ensure research is working towards achievable goals that will change lives for the better, I feel privileged to be asked to help with this process. I would recommend anyone to get involved as it is a great experience.” – Bill Day, Volunteer PPI Patient Lead

Bill Day

Guiding our work

As a volunteer PPI Patient Lead, Bill will sit on the Centre Management Committee alongside our three existing volunteers Leo Campbell, Elisabeth Ehrlich and Olivia Fulton.

Involving people affected by asthma is an important part of our work at the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research. It enables us to provide higher quality research and ensures that our work is relevant to people’s day to day lives.

Together, our four volunteers contribute to the strategic direction of the Centre, as well as taking part in various initiatives, including speaking at public events, advising on our research and leading the PPI platform.

A big thank you to Michael Bang, who stepped down as Volunteer PPI Patient Lead in 2019, for his valuable contributions to the Centre.
